Strategy consultant. Institutional advisor. Grounded in delivery.

I work with multilateral organisations, bilateral programmes, implementing partners and mission-driven organisations, and am typically brought in as an expert within a funded programme or as a specialist subcontractor. I take on a limited number of engagements at any time to ensure quality.

I do not generally bid on open tenders as a prime contractor, but I am available to be subcontracted or brought in as a named expert on a bid. If you are unsure whether we're a good fit, the best approach is a short introductory call.

Types of engagement

  • Institutional diagnostic and strategy: a structured process (typically 8-12 weeks) to assess an organisation's current state, clarify strategic direction, and develop an actionable roadmap.
    • Stakeholder interviews, document review, facilitated workshops
    • Written output with reommendations and prioritised actions
    • Suitable for BSOs, sector associations, NGOs and regional networks at strategic transition points
  • Governance advisory: review and strengthening of governance structures, decision-making processes, board composition, and leadership continuity mechanisms.
    • Standalone or embedded within a broader institutional strengthening engagement.
    • Outputs typically include governance frameworks, SOPs and practical tools that remain in use after the engagement ends.
  • Financial sustainability advisoryassessment of an organisation's current financial model and development of practical pathways toward reduced donor or funder dependency.
    • Includes income stream identification, service monetisation, pricing and business model design.
    • Delivered as a standalone engagement or as a component of a broader strategy or capacity building programme.
  • Programme design, capacity building and implementation advisory: design and refinement of advisory, coaching or capacity-building programmes for SMEs, entrepreneurs, BSOs and mission-driven organisations.
    • This can include diagnostics, curriculum structure, tools, implementation roadmaps and follow-up support.
    • Available as standalone delivery or as part of a larger programme.
    • Programmes can be delivered in-person, remotely, or blended, in English, French, Spanish or Dutch

How I work

  • I work both remotely and on-site, across Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Netherlands and beyond. Many engagements combine desk-based preparation, remote consultations and - where useful and feasible - an in-country visit for facilitation-intensive work. I adapt to programme budgets and logistical constraints.
  • Engagements typically run from eight weeks to six months, depending on scope. I take on longer advisory retainers where the engagement calls for sustained support over a programme cycle. As, for example, in the Madagascar assignment where I provided executive coaching throughout a pilot implementation phase.
  • I bring a consistent approach across all my work thorough diagnostic before recommendations, genuine ownership of outputs by the client organisation and practical tools that remain useful after the engagement ends.

Languages and geography

I work in English, French, Spanish and Dutch. Primary geographies are Sub-Saharan Africa (West, Southern, and East Africa), Southeast Asia and the Netherlands. I have also delivered online engagements in Latin America, the Caribbean and the MENA region.

What I am not the right fit for

  • I am not the right fit for large-scale programme management or long-term embedded advisory roles requiring full-time presence over multiple years. I am an independent consultant, not a firm.
  • I am not the right fit for highly technical sectoral work where deep domain expertise is the primary requirement. My expertise is in strategy, governance, organisational strengthening, financial sustainability and SME/private sector development.
  • I do not generally take on assignments with a primary focus on MEAL or research, though I do design MEL frameworks as part of broader strategy or institutional work.
